Audits are required prior to the commencement of pipe laying works in accordance with Water Industry Specification–Specification for the fusion jointing of polyethylene pressure pipeline systems using polyethylene (PE) 80 & 100 materials (WIS 4-32-08).

Training

Our quality management auditor shall deliver a half day awareness training courses prior to the commencement of works on site. In our experience it is essential for site personnel to be aware of the reason and requirements of the audit program. This approach will assist in the delivery of compliant audits and materials test results. The training will consist of:

• Outline of the proposed audit regime;
• Health, Safety, Environment and Quality requirements;
• Electro Fusion Welding Requirements;
• Butt Fusion Welding Requirements; and
• Materials Testing Requirements.

Quality Management Audits

The quality management auditor shall carry out an audit of personnel carrying out jointing procedures prior to the commencement of pipe laying works and typically monthly thereafter in order to monitor compliance to include:

• Review and verification of jointing method statements and operating procedures;
• Review and verification of jointing machines and ancillary equipment including planers; and
• Skills assessment of operators whilst undertaking jointing works on site.

 

Test Samples

Methods of assessing weld quality are determined using testing methodologies carried out in accordance with the requirements of WIS 4-32-08 by a laboratory accredited by the Irish National Accreditation Board.
